over a long period i have been having problems with my beemer stalling, usually not long after i have started it. & usually at slow speed or when decelerating. It is always worse the days after i have been using the air/con regularly (like now). the car will loose power for a few seconds & then pick back up, the ABS light comes on but no other service lights. On rare occassions it will stall altogether & be a pig to start again, although (touch wood) it always has, BMW have run diagnostics, & i also put a new battery on it. Any ideas???. If its any help I know that I need a new PCB for the service lights, as they are playing up as well, but apart from that the car's mechanically good

I have the 1988 same car, I would check your MAF and ICV valves as it sounds like a mixture problem to me, check the condition of your plugs and see if there dry and slightly white, if they are it's running to lean..What's your Mpg/Mpk like ??

mpg (short journeys in town) 16/17 mpg
(motorways) 25-30 (ish) depending
how heavy the right foot is, it Runs really strong when not having this problem. Cars done 143,000 miles regular service, doesn't loose any oil or water. Mixture is dead on by the CO meter
