your frequent change intervals though, i'm not sure that's entirely wise, as every time the transmission gets opened up there's a chance of particulate matter getting in.
if 4th is slipping (are you sure its not the torque converter locking up), you may already have some issues. the synthetics are good though, and IMHO redline makes the best stuff.
My 90 535i (208000 miles) auto transmission has intermittant hard shifting. I bought the car with 157000 miles and going into 4th gear she slipped a little. So since then I've changed fluid every oil change (5000miles) and the filter every 20000 miles. Last winter the trans started shifting hard once in a while especially when cold. Now the hard shifts are comming more often but most of the time she shifts normally.
Any suggestions would be appreciated?
Would a synthetic ATF help?
Thanks for the help Brian you got me thinking, which is hard for me (I'm a Ford Diesel man, you know, slopped forehead, carry a big hammer ;), it's "The Boss's Bimmer"
Took her for a test drive, Torque converter is fine, shifts normal during spirited driving but I get a "thump" when using light throttle? What are the symptoms of a bad Gibo?
