BMW probaby made a number of other subtle and not so subtle changes with the V8. You'll need to research it - perhaps changes to suspension, brakes, etc. These are highly engineered cars.

I totally agree with the other folks... it's a lot of work - not just dropping in and bolting it on. You're talking computers, exhaust system and that's just the beginning. Will the gages and indicators work? Sounds like a nightmare unless you're super patient and have unlimited time.

Also as previously mentioned, you'll actually end up with a car that's worth less money!

The 535i is plenty fast and with a few performance mods will be faster yet. The 3.5 engine is bullet proof. The V8 will be more expensive to fix because you got two of many things -

- exhaust headers
- heads
- cams

So you can double some of the parts and labor costs right off the bat.

With the 3.5 you have the sweet turbine whine of the world's best six cylinder as you take it to redline.
