Lousy deer, but great brakes (archive)

Sometimes I wish I had a normal job, but no, I have to work in a Hospital, so when they asked me to stay late, I said sure, but only until three AM (like three AM is getting off early). Anyway, on the trip back home I was moving along the two lane to my neighborhood at my usual 50 MPH clip, when I spot a deer on the side of the road. No biggie, can't throw a stick without hitting one around here, so I let of the gas thinking I'll just coast on by. Instead, the damn fool decides to jump across the road in front of me. Foot hard on the brakes pedal, several screeches from the tires, a few pulses from the ABS, and the car grinds to a halt before the deer even finished crossing the road. Amazing. I do have 540/E32 calipers up front, but after the spirited driver's school at R.A. that toasted the EBC's, I have stock pads. Still drug the car to a stop quick enough to toss my bookbag into the passenger's footwell. I really do love these cars.
