Help... Why does my rear brake sensor go bad?? (archive)

This is the third time in 3-4 months or so I replaced my rear brake sensor.. anyone have ideas why it keeps going?? This time I didnt even bother installing new ones, the mechanic simply welded the worn out sensor wires back together again... thanks in advance..
