My 530 was making a strange double clunking sound over bumps. I put the car on ramps to inspect the suspension components and noticed that ALL FOUR BOLTS (two on each side) for the front stabilizer mounting brackets were backed out at least half an inch!! These are the bolts that secure the bracket onto the subframe and are accessible right behind the rear splash shield, without having to remove the shield. They were easy to unscrew with my fingers, so I put some Loctite on each and tightened them up. No more clunks!
