The way I do it, is to move the front seats as far forward as possible, climb into the back seat area, face backwards, kneeling down on either side of trans tunnel. Place palms of your hands on the edge of the back seat bench near where your knees are, push in slightly and then push up with your palms on the edge of bench. It should snap up and out and you should be able to remove the bench from the car if you wish. The battery will be on the left as you are facing backwards. To replace, slide the bench back into the area under the back rest, and push in and down on the bench. This is the way I do it, anyway. It's a bitch, but easy once you've done it one time.
i am a new owner of a bmw 535i e34, the thing is it is the first bmw i have owned, i was looking for the battery and i was told it was under the rear seat. the thing is i could not seam to lift the seat, can anybody tell is the battery there and is there knack of lifting it?
