Try putting a couple of washer under the nut and (archive)

spacing it up so that the nut just barely has to start then after you tighten it a few turns remove the nut and washers. That should lock the joint tight enough to let you put the nut on and tighten it down.


The self-locking nut and the shaft coming out of the ball joint are brand new. When I try to tighten the nut the entire ball joint shaft turns.
