I recently purchased a 530i, which recently had the engine block replaced. Now, when the car is cold, the transmission pops out of 4th gear immediately after shifting and 2nd if you power hard. Previous owner claims this was not a problem before. Does anyone else experience this problem or have any ideas on what this might be.

: The cheapest and easiest thing to try first, would be to drain the fluid, and replace it with synthetic like Redline products. I have seen this fix a transmission problem like yours. One good thing to do if you do this yourself is to take off the fill plug first, before draining the transmission. That way if you cannot get off the fill plug by chance, you won't have to worry about putting new in just to take somewhere else to do the job.
