525 AC is dead (archive)

91 525i/just tried AC after 7 yrs and no cool breeze. Belt/comp check out AOK. Must be a lack of CFC. Can this unit accept "green freon"(noncfc) or is there a kit to upgrade. I'm in Tucson and it's a hot wek ahead. All advice welcome.140k auto
