Sorry, not a normal problem. Sounds like a voltage regulation problem of some sort.

I have a 1989 535. Ok you guys know that but anyways. When i start up my car the instrument cluster, and all the other dash lihgts come on. Well when I give it some gas and bring the rpm's up the lights sort of die off. All my lights including stereo, pretty much anything controlled bye the dashboard light dimming wheel turn off. Is this a normal problem?
