I did my first autocross yesterday. Damn, that was fun. I went down with a couple of friends (they drive CRXs) and made a couple runs. First was a 54.7, then a 53.0. Not too shabby for my first time out, my friends were in the 50-51 second range. The course was way tight, though, and not terribly E34 friendly. I did beat an E36 M3, but it was also his first day...I was having so much fun, I forgot to take any pictures, oops.

And how do I like my new suspension? I love it. It's not too stiff, perfectly damped, and replacing all those steering bits has made a world of difference. I kept all the old parts, and they're ugly. There were a couple of complications with the installation, though. First off, I have to have the fender lips rolled before they can install the rear shocks and springs. Still running the stock/HDs in the back right now, and it feels kinda funny. Does anyone in the Bay Area have a recommendation for a good body shop that will do it for me quick? My shop didn't want to do it, they say it doesn't turn out very well using the 'wedge a bat in there' technique. Second, Sachs sent me the wrong damn shocks for the front, the 7/90 and newer version. So, rather than try to exchange the shocks, they updated me to the later shock design, and replaced some metal plate that the shock seats in.

So, the car handles like a million bucks now, and it's not even done yet.
