Check to see if your windshield was replaced.
Take a quart of water and add some food coloring to it. Get a contrasting color. Keep the plastic mat in. Pour water over the windshield seals (see if you can get it to puddle). Do the side where the leak is first. After pouring the quart over the windshield (don't forget the top seal) see if any of the colored water is in the mat. That should pin point it for you.
At first I thought you might be getting condensate from the A/C, but not if it happens while parked!
Let me know how it goes.

WOW !! I must say that's some pretty good tips. But the car sat there all weekend. Yesterday, it was drizzling for about 3-4 hours straight. Then when I got in the car to run an errand. I saw this puddle on the floor. The puddle was actually on top my plastic mat. So I figured it might have been leaking from on top somewhere. Does this help any ??
There are a number of rubber plugs there. I have a hard time seeing how water would splash up there and get into those areas. Would not come from the hood (drain channels and seals).
Does this happen in the rain, or after going through a puddle? If a puddle, then check to see that you don't have a crack in the floorboards. I remember seeing a Z3 where the bottom was ripped open (on some shops lift) so that you could see the insulation! It was soaking wet. Have you taken the car for service recently? Was it on a lift? Have you lowered your car? Take a good look under the car.

Do you think it might be leaking by the firewall ??
Sorry, the only way to really, realy reseal it is to pull the windshield and reset it in new sealer.
I have a friend who swears by a liquid epoxy. He has a 50/50 record with it.

I'll double check for the BMW logo. If it has been replaced, what should I do ??? Is there a re-sealer ??? Thanks.
Has the windshield ever been replaced? (check
for BMW logo etched in your glass in the corner. If it was replaced, the seal is no longer sealing.

When it rained I found a puddle of water on the floor of the car right by the clutch and brake pedal. Any suggestions on what to look for ??
