It's a Norco mid rise lift. Raises the car about 48 inches. I still get on the floor, but I put some old oriental rugs down for the back. Also added heating and cooling for the garage. It's a real pain to be wrenching with sweat getting in your eyes and making your tools all slippery and what not.

The Norco is great (four of my friends have gotten them). Dealer even brought the thing to the house (it weighs almost 1000 lbs.) It comes with a power trolley that allows you to move the lift around when lowered. Has a nice 4.5 inch clearance. I always thought it would be a luxury, but now, it would be hard to go back to lift and stands. Great for brakes, suspension, fluid bleeding, diff. Some of the drive train is blocked, but not a big problem. Also works great for detailing the lower pannels. Raise it up and work on it without lying on the ground.

I park the Miata over it. Extend the arms (on the Miata I use the rubber pads on the E34, I built some special adapters that mate to the lift points on the frame without crushing the body cladding). Press a button and it goes up. It has mechanical locks at three heights and hydralic fuses should a hose burst. I've added hydralic quick disconnects so I can easily disconnect the power trolley if I need to. The power trolley contains the pump and fluid. It plugs into a standard 120v outlet.

Cost was about $1500 delivered.

I can get you a link if you want.

Don

Man, I want one of those. I get real tired of rolling around on the concrete under the car.

You serious? What did that cost?
