I'm still going with the fuel system. Fuel flow not keeping up under full load.
When was your filter last changed? Have you run any injector cleaner through?

Damn, that was fast. Thanks guys

Maybe it isn't the guibo. The hesitation feels as if there is a rubber band in the drive line. Visualize a small but heavy toy car on a table connected to a rubber band. If you pull hard and quick on the rubber band it will stretch before the car starts to move and then the car will continue to bounce back and forth on the rubber band as it accelerates. This was worse in 1st less than 2nd. As the aerodynamic forces build up, it lessened. This is only under full throttle.

Drove a '90 535i with 109k miles. Under hard acceleration, there was a surging sensation in 1st and a little less in 2nd that WASN'T the engine. My '70 Camaro does the same thing becasue the ring and pinion are worn and a little loose. I've driven 6 5spd BMW's and none of the others did this.

My hope is it's the guibo (rubber donut?) I hear BMW's have, but have never seen. If I put the car up, can I crawl under and move the draft shaft around and see if the guibo is going bad?
