In Reply to: Re: Weird vibrations from shifter in 535i 5-spd??? posted by dudel on August 29, 2001 at 09:46:53:

I noticed that after he installed the shifter the console did seem to find itself in the path of shifting. I have not trimmed the console, but that feeling has gone away (or have I become used to it now??). Reverse is tight.....I will pull the console out and go through the motions in a little while and get back to this thread.

Thanks Don

On some UUC short shifter kits, the instructions call for trimming the shifter console. In many cases this is for proper engagement, but I've noticed that the vibrations appear to be diminished when the shifter is not in contact with the shift console.

Do you have clearance with the shifter and the shifter console? How smoothly does it go into reverse? Do you feel any vibration in Reverse?
