I'm 27 also .. I would LIKE to do these minor repairs when they come up for my 1995 525i but they just haven't yet. I bought it with 65k and ive currently got 75k after a year and 2 months of owning it. Only thing i've bought for it are winter tires (its nasty in WI sometimes), and a some chrome exhaust tips and a performance chip (which I did install myself, it's just a chip.. pop old out, pop new in..) ...

I dunno! I guess if you treat your car with care you shouldn't have to paying out the nose every month. I dont think any of us really have had any issues like you've had.. Sure things come up like water pumps ($60 + labor), or the services (replace your belts etc..) .. Only thing that gets me nervous are transmission replacements or blown head gaskets which don't seem too common at all, and when they do, it's usually from people with ~130k miles or more. Tho im sure someone here can say they've had hell with their car (There is always one person) but for the most part being on this forum its mostly laid back with no serious issues other than a few people each week asking about a shimmy or a little clunking noise somewhere. :)
