Hi Chris,

The only "major" component that easily becomes accessable are the spark plugs but you mentioned that they were recently replaced. You may want to replace the 12 or so washers that go around the VC bolts. Also, a dab of RTV on each side of the VANOS unit should prolong the inevitable leak of your new VC gasket.

'92 525i -- UUC'd and a VC Gasket rolling around the trunk


while replacing the VC gasket?


Replacing the valve cover gasket this weekend on my wifes 95 525 with 66K on the odo. What else should I replace while I'm in there?

It misses on startup until you start to accelerate. I'm thinking a leaking valve cover gasket may be the culprit. I've already replace the plugs of course. If that doesn't fix it then it's on to the O2 sensor (although I think it would run poor all the time if that were it).
