Just bought my 92 525i M50 automatic with 130K on it. I do most of the work myself and need some advice on this problem. In the morning the car accelerates wonderfully smooth and powerful. On my drive home from work when its warmer outside I get this surging when accelerating. I see and feel it under hard acceleration and barley notice it when cruising. I have replaced the valve cover gasket, plugs (platinum 4's), Air filter, O2 sensor and I still get this problem. Help! any thoughts would be great because this is driving me nuts

If you get this figured out, let me know. I have had that problem with mine almost from day one (Dec 1991). Once the dealer reprogrammed the critter and I was a happy camper.....then the next time it got service they re-reprogrammed it and it has been mis-behaving ever since. Some days are worse than others. Heat has most negative impact.
