It appeared that the oil area started around the bottom of the oil pan but did not appear to come from the drain plug. But there was light oil on bottom of pan. I've not noticed any oil drips on the garage floor.


If you were a quart over full, you might get some foaming of the oil, or it might try blowing it out of some crankcase passage.

It sounds to me like you just had some bonafide leak occur. Where is the front-most part of the suspect oil located at?
