as the 540i..

The 530i follows the regular transmission service interval as other non permanently sealed BMW transmissions.. It is an often common mistake BMW owners and even some authorized BMW dealers make regarding 530i tranny service intervals..

I'm looking at the 1994 service maintenance checklist from BMW NA, and it too states the 530i needs tranny service every inspection 2..

My Independant Mechanic, Who has all the fancy schmansy computer gizzmos checked mine on that full moon during the winter solstice for a total bill of $20.00. Gotta love a friendly mechanic. ( on a 1994 530ia, same type of procedure as the 540ia )

So, I talked to the dealer today, while they had my car up on the rack, to show me how to check the tranny fluid.

Yup, it's a 95 540iA.

So, he smiles, and proceeds to tell me about how the BMW computer system they have, has to be connected to the tranny and circulate the fluid just to the right temperature, for the right amount of time, during a full moon on Thursday, etc...

That's right. There is no dipstick or filler plug to check. It's a $100 bill to check the tranny fluid!!!!!

Anyone else have this experience?
