Thanks,

Hmmm. BMW Peabody (Mass) told me they could only give me a record of what they did to prep the car for resale (although I don't ever seem to be able to actually get them to give it to me). Another lie from a stealer???

Take car to the dealer, ask them to check your vin for any active recalls. If you are really nice to them they can give you a printout that shows what work was done at other dealerships. At least they can in the US. Don't know about other places.

Last week, I became the proud newest owner of a '95 525i (it's an automatic but that can be dealt with at a later time ;-) Against my better judgment, I bought the car everyone told me not to: high mileage with unknown service history

How does one 'run a vin through BMW'???
