Very sloppy steering??? (archive)

The steering '95 540i has gotten very vague. It corners like my Ford f-150 pickup. When I left it with my mechanic he had checked the control arm bushings, the wheel bearings, and my steering linkage and didn't find anything. I left it with him and he was going to check the steering box. Any ideas what else it could be???
