Mine's an m20.I removed mine when I replaced the oil sump gasket.Like your m50,the tube on mine is secured by a bolt to the intake manifold.I just pulled mine straight up and there is one O ring at the end,for sealing. However in your case,I would air blow the area where the tube meets the engine as there could be debris accumulation and it could enter the sump when the tube is pulled off.

I'm trying to remove the dipstick tube on an M50 engine. I think I have an oil leak coming from there so I want to replace the o-ring. I removed the one bolt that holds the tube to the engine. Now I pull on it from the top-side and it will not budge. It wobbles around but will not pull out.
Any clues?
