Where is the Aux Fan Resistor? (archive)

Using the wonderful Bentley manual I have diagnosed a bad fan resistor? Problem is the manual shows a photo of the resistor that is clearly not an E34. Where is the resistor and how do you get at it without tearing the front end off? The fan also sounds like its on its last leg. Thanks.
