1. Get there early and get teched early so you can be sure to "walk the course" several times before driving it. Make sure you "learn" it. Drive it mentally over and over again.
2. Relax when you're driving - if you get too worked up, you can temporarily forget where you are in the course.
3. Drive "smooth" rather than "fast" - if you try to push the car too hard, your times will end up much slower than you felt you were going - smooth means you're not squealing the tires, and you're taking the lines through the turns that involve the least amount of steering (you familiar with apexes?)
4. You really need some good performance rubber for autocross - if you won't have these for Monday, consider them for your next outing. Good examples are Bridgestone Poteza Pole Position S02's or SP Sport 8000's. Of course many other examples exist. Don't go to stickies or R-compound tires as you may get bumped up to a more difficult run group (with cars that are more highly tuned for autocross.)
5. Get lots of sleep, drink lots of water, wear a baseball cap since you'll probably have to work one of the "corners" in the sun for an entire run group.

i've been invited to autocross this monday.

any tips or things that i should do to prepare for this? i dont really know much about it nor have i watched one before. should i drive my e34 or should i try it out in another car (since its my first time)?? it is bad on the car? (other than the tires..)

if anyone could give any useful info, that'd be great
