I put a Pioneer DEH-1300 in dash CD in my 1985 528e, and it was extremely easy. Wherever you get the kit, make sure you get a wiring harness that will fit the DEH-2300. From there, all I remember you having to do is: splice the wires from your car radio to the new harness. Unfortunately, There maybe a problem with the car amp, so if you may need to completely re-wire the amp to the head unit (DEH-2300). This can be done easily, and if you order your kit from crutchfield, you get directions specifically designed to your car.
