I don't think I've ever seen an original E34 that didn't leak around the power steering reservoir. I fixed that problem years ago when I first got my 1991 535i. To perform the fix, first empty the reservoir. Then take some side cuts and cut the crappy factory crimp clamps. Remove them and the hoses. Thoroughly dry the inside of all of the hoses where they contact the connectors and the connectors as well. While you're doing this, also clean all of the fluid that's leaked into the fender well of the car. Now, reinstall the hoses and use a good quality normal screw type hose clamp. Refill the reservoir and enjoy years of leak-free service. I've never had a problem since.
