Oxygen Sensor?? (archive)

I searched the archives and it seems like the Oxygen Sensor is the problem.. however before I spend $100.00 on the part and the time I wanted to check for feedback.

I have a 535i and it has been driving great. However last night the check engine light came on and the mpg gauge started acting strange. So I parked the car, and checked it this morning. Once cranked the the idle was ruff (between 500 and 1000 RPM). I let it warm up and drove around the block.. the check engine light went off and it ran fine. However when I let it cool and cranked it again the same thing happened. Any suggestions?
