I bought a lot of tools from Harbour Freight years ago. It was hit or miss on the quality as they buy from lots of overseas manufacturers. If you are looking for tap and die sets, go the expensive route. The HF taps and dies are only good for chasing threads, not cutting new ones. I bought a bunch of shop vises, a hydraulic press, band saw, floor stand drill press and these were all great...I still use them. You can't go wrong with screwdrivers and allen wrenches, but stay away from open/combination wrenches and precision tools.

I noticed there is a harbor freight store here in pasadena and the prices for their tools is quite cheap compared to snap-on, matco, etc. Can anyone vouch for their quality? Thanks
