Had a similar problem at 50-60mph replace the front end an added 750 bushings the steering felt great with no problems after.
Like Bruno said do some research on this forum before getting involved with it.
If you want to see some of what's involved, I'm working on a website which I've tempoarily put up. I'll be moving it in a few weeks but you can see whats involved. Provided your not using dial-up otherwise you be waiting a long time.

ok,
1995 525i 99000 miles

I have a front end shimmy that was happining around 55 miles an hour, had the wheels balanced with that great machine at san francisco BMW, the shimmy moved to 60-65 miles an hour, and dissapears when I put the brakes on,
so I am comming to the conclusion that I need to rebuild the front end,
how about a rundown of doing this,
parts and what do I do??

thanks

Donn,
