I could use some opinions on my current situation. My '89 525i is bouncing all over the road, and I think it needs some shocks/struts. This is an old car, and I don't want to put a bunch of money into it, but I want to get the job done.

First question is parts-related: Does this thing take shocks or struts? Is there a difference?

Second question is service-related: Is there a retail chain sort of place where anyone would feel comfortable taking this car other than the dealer (Midas, etc) or are BMWs just too 'different' to be serviced via a traditional vendor?

Any idea what this type of thing would cost? Both parts and install.

Trying to get the Winter Bimmer ready for action. Any opinions or comments are appreciated!

Thanks,
Rodie
