I will agree with you that chips add power, but I don't think anyone here thinks they are a superior driver. A school helps you learn to control the car in real driving situations, those you are likely to encounter on a twisty mountain road, off-camber, high-speed, etc., not the standard freeway merge. I hate to say it, but any idiot in a Caddy Eldo can drive fast on a freeway. Our cars excel in handling all driving surfaces and conditions, not just blending into traffic on the onramp.
If you want to go fast in a straight line, add the chips and exhaust. If you want to go fast the other 75% of the time, learn how to handle the car as is, then add mods as you learn the car.
I don't presume to be an expert by any means, but it's nice to know what you have before you "improve" it.
