Well that and the initial cost for the 525i I was looking at was $18,500 while the 535i I was looking at was $22,000.

You went with the 525 to save $20 in spark plugs every 30,000 miles and the handful of MPG difference? Interesting...

I'm a big believer in the phrase, there's no replacement for displacement.

'89 535i says NYAH to all those piddling 530s

I had this same choice and I decided on the 525i for the slightly cheaper cost, the lower cost of maintenance (6 spark plugs instead of 8!) and better gas mileage. Mine is mainly a daily driver on city roads though, i'm not trying to win a race with it.

trying to decide between the two - I know the obivous difference is 6cyl vs. 8cyl, but is the 8cyl that much better? Has anyone really compared the two? How about reliability? Does one have better quality over the other??

Thanks for the input...

Curt
