I considered Caltech and Stanford (admitted to both, with fellowship) and decided to come to Stanford. More character, much more social, bigger.

Apart from that, Pasadena is a decent place... although a bit out of LA's way, and rather smoggy. The main strip of Pasadena (some nice night spots there) is pretty close to Caltech and the campus itself is nice. Seemed like a fairly laid-back place, because of its small size. Of course, everyone there is pretty hard working, so you'd have to take the word "fun" with a grain of salt...

It's LA for crying out loud, it might get nippy late at night but apart from that it's moderate to stinking hot. (In summer at least).

Email me if you'd like to chat more...

Cheers,
Dan

What is Pasadena like? How cold does it get there? Is it a fun place? I'm considering Caltech, and want to know if I would like to go there, with out a plane trip to LA. Thanks.
