Which is better?

I took my car in for a "complete tranny service", local independent that i like, and they first did the flush machine. The jury is still out on this process, but if your tranny is operating correctly, i'm generally in favor of replacing ALL the fluid if you're going to go thru the effort, not just what resides in the sump. When i picked up the car i asked if everything looked ok. They replied "Dunno, we just did a flush." I politely asked that they ALSO change out the screen...since it was supposed to be a COMPLETE service, they agreed. About 20 mins later they had it ready, and indeed told me the screen was dirty. Unless your tranny is giving you problems it's likely the screen doesn't have to be changed out every 30K miles...but it is cheap insurance for a $3000+
item like a new tranny.
