Well first off I also have a Kenwood receiver like that, awesome cd player. Mine is an Excelon X-817 I think. I got mine like 4 months ago before they were available in stores for like $400. Stores sell them for $500 I think.
Anyways, about the diff. colors for the head unit....I noticed in my Crutchfield magazine the Kenwood KDC-V017 and you can pick...according to the magazine....one of 67 display colors to compliment your vehicles interior lighting, or program the receiver to chang colors all day long. That sounds cool! Its about $275.00.

Yeah that's what I like too .. I have an Aiwa CDCMP3 in my old Dodge that I haven't taken out and put in my 525 because it just looks too out of place. I think it would be cool if a manufacturer (sony or whoever) came out with 1 stereo with 80 different face plate designs .. colors .. etc..

I don't know the model off the top of my head, but I just picked it up at Circuit City. I also got a trunk-mounted 10-disc changer. They probably aren't up to an audiophile's standards, but they're fine for me. That particular receiver head folds up into a black plastic face when it's not in use. It keeps the dash looking clean and spartan, which is why I like it.
