The only hard part is getting the fan clutch nut off. You will most likely need something to hold the water pump pulley so you can turn the fan clutch nut. The nut is right-hand thread so you turn it clockwise if you're standing in front of the car.
Once you get that off, it is easy. Make sure you replace the thermostat also and if your car has a plastic thermostat housing it's a good time to replace that with an aluminum one.
p.s. Get a Bently's manual if you don't already have one. If it's your first time it'll take 1.5 - 2 hrs.


Has anyone attempted to change a water pump on a 540. If so should i attempt it? Or should i pay 450 at Bimmer.
