Thanks guys! Yeah, I checked the old posts but obviously not well enough. Impatience is a virtue. Gonna go to BMW and get some coolant. BTW, what makes BMW coolant the preferred choice? I don't mind paying extra for the right stuff just wondering.
Hi everyone. Two quick questions; first, how can I reset my oil light sans reset tool (searched the threads here and at E34.net to no avail.) Second, what kind of coolant do you reccomend? Dexcool? Prestone? BMW? (95 525i). Since water wetter has proven effetive in the past I plan to use that as well.
BMW coolant is preferred because of its phosphate and silicate free formula (phosphates and silicates wreak havoc on alumimum components in the engine, of which we have lots in E34s), and it has water pump lubricants in as well. Plus, it's a good selling point for BMW purists, kind of like religious oil changes with Mobil 1, Redline, etc. Comfort factor.
Welcome aboard, and don't let our grouchiness get ya. Check out some of the old standby sites around for some good info (unofficialbmw.com, bmwe34.net, etc).
