It happened to me on a test drive of my 525. Not Only was I stupid ensoug to get the mat jammed under the gas pedal but I then proceeded to make an ass of myself by arguing with the 30 year experienced mechanic as he tried to convince me there was nothing wrong with the throttle cable. Needless to say, once he told me what the problem was I shut up, bought the car and prmptly left.

So the day I bought my car I decided to take it on a 500 mile round trip .. across Washington State and back. On the way there however the car started eliciting this "problem". Whenever removing my foot from the gas and pushing down on the clutch, the engine would rev up in RPM's .. going even to redline.

Yes I fully removed my foot from the gas (i'm not that dumb), and the car was still doing this. Luckily I could shift it fast enough not to go above redline, but it had me worried. Was it the clutch, was it an engine problem ? What ? What ?

I got it to Spokane and I thorougly looked the car over, and I found out what the problem was.

Anybody care to take a guess?

I'll post the answer if anybody is interested.
