E36 M3 showed up first in 94, had 3.0l single VANOS, 289 hp (?) euro (6 throttle bodies)(al head), 240 hp US (single throttle body, cast iron head). There was an LTW ver (lighter hood, trunk lid, spoiler, less equip, no sunroof, available only in 95).
96-99 M3s were available with a revised S50, still single vanos, 321 hp (Euro) and 240 hp (US). SMG was available in Euro in late 98/early 99. 4 dr sedans were avail in non-US since 96 till 98. (Trivia : the last of the M3 sedans was a gruen und weiss, donated to the Bayern Autobahn Polizei). The LTW was no longer avail.
There were some equip diffs but if I'd knew those y'all would have think I don't have a life. :-)
I know this isn't the E36 board, but I always post here so why not start with the people I know and get advice from all the time. A buddy of mine is looking into getting one, but he noticed that the cars are often listed in this fashion. I know there is a bump in displacement starting in 95 or 96 to 3.2L, but other than that, is there a difference between those (any) years?
