One of the 3 series cupholder can be modified to fit the E34's open bay next to the emergency brake. Takes around 15 - 20 minutes (depending on your handiman skill level) and offers spaces for 2 cups as well as a nifty spring-loaded change holder. I did this a few months back and have been very happy with the solution. The link below has a series of pictures showing how it's installed.

Has anyone found a cupholder solution that works well for E34's (I have a 535i 5 speed). I've checked the archives, but am not sure if (a) the auto flip-up ones are any good; (b) the "figure 8" model sold by the dealer for around $30 is any good (seems like it would get in the way for the passenger); (c) there's a good, cheap solution from Autozone or some other place.

Thanks in advance.
