see. I too, removed the plastic screws from on top of the fender, but I guess the only other thing that is holding the reservoir in place is the 2 side foam rubber tape. I thought there might be some hidden screws somewhere, but I guess not. Its a 1991 525i BTW.

You didn't say what year/engine, but it's real ez on my early 525i. Unscrew the black plastic screw closest to the top of the fender. This screw and some foam-rubber-lookin'/maybe two-sided tape is the only thing that holds along with a tab and notch on the lower front edge of the tank. You will probably have to pull up with a little force to get it free, then just disconnect the pump connectors, or pull the whole thing to the side to gain access to the side markers. good luck!
