Could be your 02 sensor..
I just had mine replaced.. also happened once while I opened the throttle valve while playing around under the hood..
Nothing to worry about between BMW engineering and this forum you are in good hands..

Yesterday morning I crank the car and it ran terrible. It idled very rough and then eventually shut off. It did this 3-4 times then it backfired and began to run as smooth as ever. Although it is now running smooth again, I know something is wrong. Has anyone experienced this before. The car is always tuned. I always run 93 octane.

TIA, Vern
