This seems very high as others have mentioned.
I am not very mechanically inclined especially with the newer cars (computers, etc.). I recently replaced the front discs, pads and sensory on my 95 5 series.
I was very intimidated and timid about doing this job myself. With the help of the members on this board and the reference materials on the other web sites, I manged to get the job done without to much trouble. The hardest job was getting the caliper bolts loosened. I managed to use a long piece of pipe over the handle of the rachette wrench.
I saved about three hundred dollars doing this myself (not counting my time).
I ordered the parts from Zygmunt Motors in doylestown, PA. They have a web site and reasonable prices.
Go ahead and give it a try. One positive thing to come out of this is that my 14 year old daughter watched and wants to do the rear pads with me. A teenage daughter and her dad doing something other than butting heads what a miracle.
This week I am going to tackle the seat motors since one side is not working, the micro-filter, fuel filters and oil change.
You can do it!!
