I think the vent function was for the 7-series only. When my '90 535 was new it would occasionally shift to the "7-series mode" all by itself, with the vent function displayed instead of the timer. It would eventually revert to the 5-series mode on its own. No clue as to how to do it intentionally.

Hasn't done it again in years though. It never stayed in the vent mode long enough for me to see if it actually worked with the 5-series' HVAC system, but I doubt it would.

On my '89 535i, I'd like to switch the timer function to control ventilation fan times. Does anyone know how to switch timer to this mode from the simple countdown timer mode? I remember, on my wife's '95 540i, years ago, there was a little trick to this. Thanks.
