Suggest you consider a 525i with an M50 engine. In other words a 1992 onwards model. Bulletproof engine. I do all my maintenance except for the computer resetting and auto fluid changes. It is cheaper than the Camry for most parts. If you use a dealer you will pay. If you do it yourself and use OEM parts, it becomes very affordable and you are not compromising the quality of your car. Don't wait for things to wear out or break, spend some extra money on preventative maintenance. And people will admire your car and you will have huge fun driving it, something I never had with the Camry. I am not a mechanic, have basic experience, find it easy to work on the car and this board is very helpful.

By the way, how did I get into a BMW in the first place? Well I was looking for a new car, drove everything except new BM's which I couldn't afford, drove a second hand BMW approved 525iA and that was that. Sold for life. Seriously. I keep it in very ggod condition, inside, outside and mechanically and will keep it for a very long time yet.

No regrets.
