I have encountered a torn dog bone (pitman arm?) where the grease in it dried up and caused the squeaking.Had it replaced and voila!
The cracking sheetmetal if I remember from previous posts, are located somewhere behind the rear backrest. The backrest and the rear parcel shelf had to be removed and the sheetmetal underneath needs to be inspected.

Today I began hearing a faint noise whilw driving. When I got home I began poking around trying to locate source of noise. I bounced the car and could hear a loud squeak coming from left rear suspension area. It was getting dark and I didn't have the time to take it apart to check further. It's a 91 525 5spd w/112k. I repalced the shocks 22k ago with Boges. Any Ideas? Are there any bushings that wear and squeak? I checked archives and saw a few posts about cracking sheetmetal from stress. Were does this occur?
TIA
DanC
