Sounds like Chris did run into some quality control problems, that's a major PITA. The RailRiders should come with 2 sets of square slide nuts. Nut A is the narrower nut that doesn't quite drop into our racks and needs to be filed. Nut B is for other cars and is about 3/4" square. All I had to do on the car was take out the rubber gaskets, file the nuts and the back of the foot base, drop the nuts into the rail, and bolt it all together. All the parts I needed came with the Rail Riders, nothing came with the car except the rail channel itself. You will want a measuring tape to get things nicely spaced, as there are no markings on the roof rails.

Let me know if you have any more questions, I can take some pictures of the filing on the foot base if you want. There is not much to be filed off of the slide nuts, but Chris is right - if you have a wheel to do it on it would be much better. I did it with a file and finger power, and it took quite a while.

I want to buy the Yakima rail rider #1 like you have. However, according to the directions with the product, there should be the slider/washer type things in the rail on the car for proper installation. I popped out the rubber pieces on my rails and I don't have these square/rectangular pieces to screw the rack in place. I am trying to figure out if this is something I need, or don't need to properly install the rack before buying it. Did you have these already? Or did you have to buy them? Do I need them? Hopefully you know what I am talking about.

Any help you can offer on this one is greatly appreciated.
