My car won't start---HELP (archive)

So, I got to start my car this morning and all dash board lights seem dim--I turn the key and nothing happens. I try this a couple of times and nothing. I wait a few minutes and then I try again--this time I hear machine gun fire coming from the engine.

Should I try junping the car? The Interstate battery is less than two years old!
